HOW CAN I TAKE A CLASS THAT IS NOT SCHEDULED?
New classes are scheduled regularly. Check the PDC website for updates. You may also contact us for information on custom training programs.

All About Classes

WHAT ARE THE CLASS HOURS AT THE PDC?
Most classes at the PDC training center are 4-5 hours long and scheduled once a week for 10-20 weeks.

All About Classes

WHAT IF I AM REGISTERED FOR A CLASS BUT CAN’T ATTEND ONE OF THE SESSIONS?
Only a minimum number of absences are allowed and students must call the PDC if they will miss a class.

No. There are no tests or exams. Classes are monitored and driven by a commitment to attendance.

Prerequisites, Exams, Credits, Certificates

CAN THE CLASSES BE COUNTED TOWARD COLLEGE CREDITS?
No. State-funded training programs cannot provide college credits. The student gets a Certificate of Achievement but no grade. You can check with your college to see if any part of your PDC training can be applied toward a class credit.

Enrollment

I WOULD LIKE TO ENROLL IN A PDC CLASS. WHAT DO I DO?
You can enroll in a class without the participation of your employer only if you are paying the market price for the class. ETP funding requires the participation and authorization of your employer. Enrollment requires a completed application form, commitment form, and a recent pay stub confirming a minimum of 35 hours of work per week. All forms are available on the Downloads page of www.ProfessionalDevelopmentCenter.com

Enrollment

I AM NOT EMPLOYED. CAN I TAKE A CLASS AT THE PDC?
Working employees receive priority enrollment. If space permits, you can take a class at the market price.

Enrollment

WHAT IF I STOP WORKING FOR MY COMPANY IN THE MIDDLE OF ENROLLMENT IN A CLASS?
All students must remain employed by the company contracted for ETP funding during the course of training and at least 90 days following the completion of training. If an employee is terminated from the company or accepts employment with a different firm, the State will not fund the employee’s training and the company contracted for the ETP training will be billed for the cost of training the ineligible employee.

Enrollment

I JUST COMPLETED A STATE-FUNDED CLASS AT A DIFFERENT TRAINING FACILITY. CAN I TAKE ANOTHER STATE-FUNDED CLASS WITH THE PDC?
Yes, but you must wait 90 days after certified completion of the previous class.

Cost / Payment

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO ENROLL IN A CLASS?
Students who do not qualify for ETP training must pay the market price for classes. Employees and companies who qualify for ETP training will pay the net cost of the class, which is currently based on an 80% ETP funding discount. Each class also requires a $150 books and materials fee.

Costs / Payment

WHEN IS PAYMENT FOR CLASSES DUE?
Payment for the class (market price or net cost) and the $150 book and materials fee is due two weeks before the class start-date. Fees are payable to Glendale Community College by company check only.

ETP Funding

HOW DO I QUALIFY FOR ETP FUNDING?
Both the employer and employee must meet eligibility requirements set by the State of California. Click here to go to the “How To Qualify” page.

ETP Funding

WHAT IF MY SALARY IS LOWER THAN THE ETP WAGE REQUIREMENT?
The value of your company-paid medical, dental, and vision benefits can be added to your salary to meet the minimum State-wage requirement. If you are still below the minimum, your option is to pay the market price to enroll in the class.

ETP Funding

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO AUTHORIZE A COMPANY FOR ETP-FUNDED TRAINING?
Upon receipt of all required enrollment materials approval is possible within 24 hours.

ETP Funding

I WORK FOR A COMPANY THAT HAS AN ETP CONTRACT, BUT NOT WITH THE PDC. CAN I STILL TAKE A CLASS AT THE PDC?
Yes, but your company must register under the PDC’S contract. You also cannot be currently enrolled in an ETP training course provided by your company, and it must be 90 days since you completed a previous ETP-funded class.
